Advanced Practitioner Radiographer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, hardworking and reliable radiographer to join our GI and Procedural Imaging team at UHNM, as a Gastrointestinal Advanced Practitioner Radiographer.

The team performs and supports the interpretation of around 2,300 CT Colonograms per annum between the Royal Stoke and County Hospital sites.

The post holder will work to a defined job plan to support the delivery of the CT Colonography service cross-site.

The post holder will possess a postgraduate level qualification related to CT Colonography or have completed Module A through the National CT Colonography Academy.


Responsibilities

* Safely perform CT Colonography studies referring to the standard operating procedure for CT Colonography.
* Perform and provide a provisional interpretation of CT Colonography assessing for completeness of study, ruling out complications and highlighting any findings to be expedited.
* To assess the needs of patients, communicating with those responsible for their care, and documenting the appropriate details whilst at all times maintaining confidentiality.
* Undertake the mandatory patient group direction training and medicines management training and demonstrate knowledge of the safe handling and administration of medicines.
* Willing to train to perform further role advancement which may become available should service need arise.
* Demonstrate the ability to expedite significant findings to the appropriate MDT and/or radiologist to ensure timely clinical discussion of radiological findings.
* Maintain service standards in GI radiography through clinical audit and service development through quality improvement projects.
* The post holder performs such radiographic examinations using complex radiological equipment with minimal margin for potential error.
* T The post holder performs invasive examinations and administers pharmaceuticals via patient group directions, which are reliant upon knowledge, skill and precision of application.

Person Specification


Qualifications and experience

* Educated to degree level BSc (Hons) Radiography or equivalent
* Postgraduate qualification related to CT Colonography or completed National CT Colonography Academy Module A
* Willingness to undergo further postgraduate training to develop skills related to the role should future service need arise.
* Regulatory body registration (HCPC)
* Clinical experience in busy NHS Imaging environment
* CTC experience / knowledge
* Awareness of related protocols, guidelines and legislation including IR(ME)R 2017 and IRR 2017
* Development of an additional area of responsibility within role
* ICT Skills: CRIS radiology information system, iPortal, PACS, SyngoVIA, eRoster, spreadsheet, IEP, word processing software, Microsoft SharePoint and equipment manufacturer software interfaces for radiology equipment.
* Experience in assessing trainees and providing feedback.
* Portfolio of continuous professional development activity undertaken in relevant areas

* Quality assurance experience
* Knowledge of current radiographic equipment protocols, procedures and regulations.
* Evidence of multi-disciplinary team working.
* Ability to prioritise workload in response to service need.
* Ability to work autonomously and be accountable for own actions.
* Understanding of the clinical audit process
* Excellent written and communication skills.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with situations in a sensitive manner.
* Ability to apply evaluative and reflective techniques to personal practice, events and activities.
* Ability to understand, interpret and critically analyse data and information.
* High levels of accuracy and dexterity to carry out GI advanced practice radiography.
* Image interpretation

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
