The Role
As a Bookkeeper, you will play a crucial role in managing the day-to-day financial operations of the company's housing development projects in Somerset. Working closely with the site manager and wider team, you will be responsible for recording financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and assisting in financial reporting. This is an excellent opportunity for a meticulous individual with a strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and experience in the construction/house development industry.
Responsibilities
* Record and maintain accurate financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries into our cloud software Archdesk.
* Reconcile bank statements, invoices, and other financial documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
* Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
* Track expenses, budget, taxes, cash flow, receipts and other financial dealings
* Provide regular financial reports (weekly, monthly and yearly)
* Monitor accounts payable and receivable
* Process supplier invoices, review expense claims, and ensure timely payments.
* Follow up on outstanding receivables and manage customer invoicing.
* Maintain organised and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or similar role, preferably in the construction, real estate or housing development industry.
* Solid understanding of bookkeeping principles and practices.
* Proficiency in accounting fundamentals, Microsoft Excel and Archdesk is required
* Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A proactive attitude with a continuous improvement mindset.
* A relevant accounting qualification or working towards one is desirable.
