The role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be delivering engineering expertise across the full lifecycle of Land Defence Platforms, shaping design authority decisions, ensuring operational readiness, and providing critical in-service support that directly impacts mission success.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
1. Engage with customers and internal teams to capture and clarify technical requirements.
2. Create accurate CAD models and detailed engineering drawings to support design activities.
3. Produce comprehensive design reports and documentation to ensure quality and compliance.
4. Investigate and evaluate emerging manufacturing technologies to drive innovation.
5. Provide expert engineering input to resolve shop-floor challenges and improve processes.
This role is full time working 37 hours per week and is mainly based on site at Bristol. You will be required to travel to Warminster, Bovington, Andover and Donnington with the occasional overnight stay required to meet operational needs.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Engineer:
6. Strong understanding of the design process and ability to apply it effectively to resolve complex engineering challenges.
7. Proven experience collaborating within a multidisciplinary engineering team to deliver high-quality solutions.
8. Demonstrated capability to adopt a practical, hands-on approach when addressing technical problems.
Qualifications for the Mechanical Engineer:
9. Proven experience in an engineering role with a strong track record of delivering quality solutions.
10. Relevant engineering degree (or equivalent) and a clear aspiration to achieve Chartered status. (Desirable)
