The Azure Fiber team in Romsey, Hampshire, is seeking dynamic candidates with energy and a passion for innovation to join our team. You will be working on fabrication technologies for radically novel optical fibers, including glass preform manufacture, optical fiber drawing and associated processes. The role will involve close interaction with the R&D team to take new fabrication methods for next generation fibers and turn them into robust and reliable processes that can be successfully transferred into volume manufacture by the production team. Additionally, you will be required to support the scaling up of the new fabrication facility to meet customer demand and company ambition. As such, this role involves hands-on work in our state of the art Romsey facility five days a week. Required Qualifications: Masters degree in Engineering, Physics or other related scientific disciplines Proven technical leadership experience in a high tech industrial environment Technical management of projects including schedule, financial and resource planning Electrical/electronic design experience Experience with engineering software including Solidworks and experience with electro-mechanical, thermomechanical and Optomechanical design High level of technical ability in interpreting complex design requirements Ability to communicate complex problems clearly at all levels Good presentational and documentation skills Proficiency with MS Office, Excel, Powerpoint Knowledge of and work experience with optical fibres and lasers Being familiar with cleanroom regulations and cleanroom suitability English language: high level written and spoken, both colloquial and technical The ability to work quickly, under pressure and to deadlines Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
