Are you a qualified and experienced Environmental Health Officer looking for a new challenge where you can make a tangible impact on the local community? We are seeking a dynamic, experienced EHO to join our busy team here at Derby. You will lead on complex casework, improve public health standards, and help shape a safer, healthier environment for our residents.

The Opportunity
In the role of Environmental Health Officer, here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:
• Inspect dwellings and enforce statutory provisions to ensure compliance with the authorities’ statutory obligations, and provide guidance, information, and training to landlords to aid their compliance.
• Prepare, monitor and authorise legal and other documentation, and to instigate legal proceedings to ensure compliance with the authorities’ statutory obligations
• To keep up to date with relevant legislation, standards, guidance, and other information to develop any appropriate specialist knowledge of relevant subject areas to ensure compliance with the statutory requirements.
• To attend and contribute to meetings, committees, public enquiries, tribunals, and court hearings in a technical, expert, or advisory capacity.
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have…
• BSc or MSc in Environmental Health, backed by a Certificate of Registration from the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB).
• Proven track record in a local authority or regulatory environment.
• Deep understanding of current UK housing legislation.
• Excellent negotiation, report-writing, and conflict-resolution skills.
