Children's Home Registered Manager (Maternity Cover) Contract Type: Temporary (April - October 2025) Location: Tameside Council Salary: Umbrella £46.00 per hour, PAYE £32.04 per hour, (May be negotiable up to £500.00 per day) We are looking for an experienced Registered Manager to provide maternity cover for a solo children's home. This role demands a dedicated leader who can manage a permanent staff team and ensure the highest standards of care and safety for the children. Day-to-day of the role: Oversee the daily operations of the children's home, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards and promoting a safe, nurturing environment for the children. Lead and manage the permanent staff team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure effective service delivery. Participate in the Out of Hours cover from Friday to Monday and on bank holidays, providing leadership and support during these times. Contribute to the strategic planning and management of the service, aiming for continual improvement based on service user views, performance data, and stakeholder feedback. Implement the Council’s policies, particularly in relation to residential staff, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations and effective personnel practices. Required Skills & Qualifications: Must have NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management. Proven experience managing a children's home. Completed the fit person interview with Ofsted. Experience in PACE and Team Teach. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively manage staff and interact with children. Ability to work under pressure and make informed decisions that reflect the best interests of the children and the service. Responsibilities: Manage the organisation, supervision, and provision of residential services for children. Ensure that work is appropriately planned, critically evaluated, reviewed, and that key performance indicators are met. Lead the team ensuring that the functions of the Service are carried out effectively and in accordance with legislation, regulations, guidance standards, and local procedures and priorities. Manage the team in line with Service policy, procedures, and guidelines, including recruitment, disciplinary issues, and staff welfare. Ensure effective induction of new staff and evaluate and action the training and developmental needs of staff within the team.
