Main duties of the job
The Training Programme Director will focus on the improvement of learner supervision, assessment and experience, engagement of faculty, and ensuring effective educational outcomes, both now and in the future. The role will also involve whole workforce transformation and the development of multi‑professional links across Greater Manchester, Lancashire and South Cumbria.
Job responsibilities
* Oversee the Specialty’s Regional Training Programme.
* Manage specialty‑specific matters and address trainee/trainer concerns.
* Recruit to training posts and programmes.
* Administer postgraduate programme management, including assessments, progression, rotations, support and remediation, out‑of‑office (OOP) management, trainee career support, less‑than‑full‑time training, inter‑deanery transfer, academic training and other related work‑streams.
* Ensure national standards established by the Royal College and internal O&G guidelines are met.
* Develop and implement the School’s Recruitment and Retention Strategy and support the School Operational Programme.
* Act as a member of the School Board.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Consultant or Specialty Doctor in Obstetrics & Gynaecology currently working in an NHS Trust in the North‑West of England.
* Member / Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
* Postgraduate qualification such as Certificate, Diploma or Masters in Medical Education.
Experience
* Organising and delivering educational programmes or courses.
* Significant experience working with doctors in an educational context.
* Educational supervision experience.
* Previous or current appointment as a leader in healthcare education.
* Understanding of the Workforce Transformation agenda.
* Recruitment experience, including selection and Equality and Diversity in the last three years.
* Demonstrable track record of delivery in service and education.
* Doctors must hold a Licence to Practice.
* Experience as a Clinical Manager.
* Awareness of funding streams for healthcare education.

Additional Information
Applicants from within the NHS will be offered an appointment on a secondment basis only; agreement should be obtained from their employer prior to submitting the application.
In line with TPD sessional payments, the compensation will be adjusted in accordance with experience.
