IT Security Officer (Technical hands-on Strategy & Transformation)

Joining a bespoke team, in effect an internal security consultancy, you will have an opportunity to make strategic input and tactical decisions across a wide and varied range of transformation and change programs. Your background will allow you to bring ‘subject matter expert’ input to the security area of all strategic projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Core ownership for planning and execution of security elements of strategic projects.
2. Delivery responsibility for timely and effective security solutions.
3. Provide advisory and consultancy services to ensure achievement of business goals.
4. Provide oversight to secure solutions that are scalable and portable across the business.
5. Support security risk assessment and problem mitigation.
6. Deliver technical consultancy on 3rd party and vendor involvement.
7. Build up expertise in a range of subject matter areas.
8. Champion future proofing, threat mitigation, and continuous innovations in practices, tools, and technology.
To be successful, you will possess:
1. Relevant, current, and transferable enterprise security advisory experience.
2. A track record as a ‘go-to’ technical subject matter expert in Information Security, achieved through roles such as Security Architect, Security Project Lead, Security Technical Expert, or DevSecOps.
3. A technical breadth including enterprise, distributed systems, and cloud technologies.
4. Strong practical understanding of Information Security risk management processes and best practices.
5. Advanced communication and interpersonal skills, including negotiation, conflict resolution, and effective engagement with technical, non-technical, and business communities.
6. Strong stakeholder management skills (internal and external).
7. Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM are desirable.
8. PenTest certifications like CEH, GIAC are desirable.
9. Understanding of risk-driven architecture such as Sherwood, SABSA, or SANS is desirable.
10. Exposure to DevSecOps functions is highly desirable.
Additional Information:
* This role is NOT GRC or SOC; it is more suited to a Security Engineer progressing to a broader role involving multiple projects, influencing initial design, tool or partner selection, and stakeholder engagement.
* This role requires onsite presence 3 days a week; suitable locations include Bolton, Bristol, Tunbridge Wells, or Redhill.
* Currently, this role does not provide sponsorship support.
Reward:
Depending on experience, salaries range from £70,000 to £85,000, plus bonuses, pension, private medical, and other employee benefits. The role offers flexible hybrid working, with locations including Bolton, Bristol, Tunbridge Wells, or Redhill.
