Lecturer/Senior Lecturer - School of Risk and Actuarial Studies
Employment type: Full time – 35 hours per week
Salary: Level B from $127,947 and Level C from $155,403 (plus superannuation and leave loading)
Location: Kensington NSW Australia (Hybrid Flexible Working)
Responsibilities
Level B (Lecturer)— Engage in individual and/or collaborative research consistent with disciplinary practice. Create scholarly impact recognized by peers. Conduct research under limited supervision and design research projects. Contribute to competitive funding applications, acting as co-investigator or chief investigator. Mentor and guide students and colleagues, supervising HDRs and developing the next generation of academics.
Level C (Senior Lecturer)— Make independent contributions to research with significant impact and a nationally recognized research track record. Undertake independent research and develop research groups. Attract peer recognition and establish research networks at national level. Obtain research income from nationally competitive grants and research end-users, leading at or above the relevant discipline level.
Qualifications
Level B (Lecturer)— PhD in a related discipline (actuarial studies, economics, risk and insurance, quantitative finance, machine learning, etc.). Capability to contribute to the school’s core research and teaching strengths. Proven commitment to staying current with discipline knowledge. Demonstrated record in high-quality research and research leadership. Experience in teaching and learning design at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. Significant involvement with the profession and/or industry. Desirable: post-doctoral experience, industry experience in a relevant field, or professional actuarial qualifications such as Associateship of the Actuaries Institute.
Level C (Senior Lecturer)— Experience in successfully recruiting and supervising high-calibre students. Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement. Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence. Demonstrated ability to interact with the profession and industry and attract funding. Desirable: post-doctoral experience, industry experience in a relevant field, or professional actuarial qualifications such as Fellowship of the Actuaries Institute.
