Overview
The Faculty of Law is seeking a highly motivated and well-organised Events Assistant to support the delivery of a wide range of internal and external events, including high-profile academic conferences, student-focused activities, and flagship programmes. They will work closely with the Events Manager and will play a key role in enhancing the Faculty’s research culture and ensuring the smooth delivery of events across the academic year.
Grade: 5
£32,108 - £37,338 per annum
Responsibilities
* Assist in planning, coordinating and delivering a wide portfolio of events, including the annual Faculty lectures, special lectures, conferences, symposiums, dinners and research group events.
* Support budget preparation, procurement, and financial administration in line with University procedures.
* Maintain appropriate records using an Excel workbook.
* Provide event and administrative support for the Public International Law Research Group and Oxford Intellectual Property Research Centre’s Annual International Intellectual Property Law Moot.
* Use various software systems including Padlet, Drupal, Stripo and Oracle.
Qualifications and Skills
* Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise different administrative tasks simultaneously and to meet deadlines.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and communicate clearly in writing and orally with various stakeholders.
* Willingness and availability to work flexibly, including outside normal office hours, and to travel to events outside Oxford if required.
* Solid understanding of budget management and financial planning.
* Desirable: experience of, or interest in, working in the field of higher education.
Contract and Location
* Fixed term for 2 years and full time.
* Based at St Cross Building, St Cross Road, Oxford.
* The Law Faculty supports hybrid working; the postholder will be required to be on site for at least 60% of their working week and may work flexibly as occasional work outside normal office hours is required.
