Construction Project Manager - Energy Transition - Glasgow
We are looking for a Project Manager to play a key role in delivering a portfolio of utility-scale generation and energy storage assets projects, some of which will be the first of their kind.
As a key member of the Project Delivery team, you will lead the delivery of large-scale, Energy Transition projects from pre-construction through to commercial operation. Working directly for the asset owner, you will coordinate all aspects of project delivery with EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant execution.
With a committed pipeline and significant capital backing from their investor, this company is scaling its project delivery function. You will primarily manage third-party EPCs, OEMs, and ICPs throughout the full project lifecycle, both in Scotland and more broadly across the UK.
Construction Project Manager - Energy Transition responsibilities:
* Safe delivery of projects aligned with HSE requirements
* On-time and on-budget project completion
* Effective stakeholder engagement and contractor management
* Zero-defect handover and successful transition to O&M
* Accurate and timely project reporting and governance
* Lead the construction delivery of one or more utility-scale energy transition projects, overseeing and managing EPC, OEM and ICP contractors on their behalf.
* Ensure projects are delivered in line with NEC contract frameworks, timelines, budget, and agreed specifications.
* Manage construction phase risks, proactively identifying and resolving issues. Ensuring contractor HSE compliance across all construction activities. Promote their safety culture and ensure alignment with CDM and relevant regulations.
* Support tendering and contractor appointment processes, managing contract administration throughout the construction lifecycle. Monitoring project budgets, change control and cost forecasting.
* Act as the key interface between contractors, design teams, grid operators, local councils, and internal departments.
* Ensure efficient information flow and coordination across multidisciplinary project teams. Support internal reporting and stakeholder engagement including investment team liaison.
* Oversee site inspections, quality assurance processes and progress reviews. Prepare and present accurate progress reports, schedule updates and risk registers. Ensure commissioning and performance testing is completed to specification.
Construction Project Manager - Energy Transition requirements:
* Proven track record delivering infrastructure projects within the Energy or Transmission and Distribution sector
* Experience managing NEC contracts and third-party contractors
* Experience working with local councils, DNOs or transmission-connected projects
* Technical understanding of renewable energy systems or major civils/infrastructure
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Competent in project budgeting, planning and risk management
* Recognised Health & Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely)
* Project Management qualification (e.g. APM PMQ or equivalent)
* Engineering or construction-related degree or equivalent Level 3+ qualification
* Happy to be office-based in their Glasgow office
