Cost Engineer (12 month Maternity Cover) – Warrington | Hybrid/Flexible Working | 2 days per week in the office
Do you enjoy getting into the detail, spotting issues early and turning complex numbers into clear, confident decisions? Amentum Technology is looking for a proactive Cost Engineer to join an established project controls team and keep projects on track while covering a period of maternity leave.
This is a brilliant role for someone who naturally takes ownership, communicates confidently with stakeholders, and genuinely likes bringing order to busy project environments. You’ll be based primarily in Warrington, with hybrid, part-time and flexible working available — and a requirement to be in the office 2 days per week.
What you’ll be doing
Supporting Project Managers to deliver projects on time and within budget
Setting up projects, managing close-out and reconciliations
Ensuring accurate cost allocation and maintaining clean project financials
Producing cost forecasts and meaningful financial analysis (not just reporting)
Monitoring revenue, gross margin and project performance against expectations
Keeping corporate systems accurate and reflective of real project status
Tracking aged debt and supporting recovery actions where needed
Preparing client monthly reports and internal packs for Operational Project Reviews
Contributing to monthly project meetings and supporting bids/proposals
Helping with wider project controls such as earned value, change control, early warnings, KPIs, risk & opportunity and resource monitoringWhat you’ll bring

Strong stakeholder skills — able to challenge constructively and build trust
High confidence in Excel (formulas, lookups, pivot tables, data validation)
