Job title Plant / General Mechanic
Job purpose
The purpose of this role is to preform structured maintenance tasks on our hire equipment, vehicles and buildings in an effort to improve the quality of our product offering, of operations and fleet. This role will include on occasion, general maintenance and repairs at our customers' location.
The Company - Location One
Location One is the UK Film Industry's specialist plant hire company. We supply high quality equipment and services to enable filming on Location, as well as in Studio, with an extensive product range that includes water services, power generation, battery store technology, recycling, and site lighting amongst others. We also have a dedicated, specialist Ground Protection team.
Based out of 7 nationwide branches in East London, West London, Bristol, Wales, Manchester Newcastle & Scotland, we are set up to service the industry locally, wherever the production. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Main duties and responsibilities - Maintenance, Inspections and Repairs
Performing regular inspections and maintenance on working machinery to ensure proper functional upkeep and aesthetic quality
Carrying out service, maintenance and repairs of Location One plant equipment
Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on many types of vehicles while maintaining company and industry standards
Maintaining trailered generators 20 - 100 KVA, tower lights and other mechanical / electrical plant
Electrical, mechanical and hydraulic fault diagnosis, repair and installations
Inspections, MOT Preparations, diagnosis, service, maintenance and repair procedures on a range of vehicles
Use manufacturer diagnostic equipment to ensure diagnostics, testing, and repairs are thorough and to highest quality
Record jobs and inspection documents on a daily basis
Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
Help keep the yard, warehouse, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.
Qualifications and Position Traits
Plant Mechanical qualifications & skills
Full driving licence and confidence of towing (HGV licence preferred but not essential)
CounterbalanceForklift Licence (Training can be given)
Attention to detail
Must have a basic vehicle repair & servicing knowledge and skills
Excellent communication skills
Calm under pressure and an ability to adapt to last-minute changes
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to work irregular hours (Troubleshooting calls with customers and breakdowns out of hours)

Working conditions and Physical Requirements Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside, around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts. This is a physical role, the general mechanic must be physically fit and healthy.
Hours of work and compensation
Monday-Friday 7am-4pm (40hrs per week)
Additional hours depending on business requirements paid at overtime rates
Salary range £32k- £35k Plus overtime
Use of a company vehicle

Pay: £32,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
