Job Purpose
To provide visible leadership in coordinating and driving continuous improvement activities to improve all aspects of operations including manufacturing, warehouse & distribution, HSE, right first-time quality, cost efficiency, lead times, stock management, new product introduction and overall service level to customers. Deliver a culture where excellence in customer care is the norm and any product quality defects, non‑conformances or reduction in service levels are not tolerated. Ensure high levels of right‑first time product quality, cost efficiency and service levels are continuously achieved, monitored via KPI’s and provide fast resolution to any defects or customer concerns raised. Lead structured PDCA problem solving initiatives to implement new ideas and improvements. Ensure operational standards, introduction of technology innovations and performance targets are consistently achieved. Provide fast resolution to any issues raised and execute improvements quickly. Drive an Operations Excellence and continuous improvement culture with a collaborative, visible leadership and practical hands‑on approach to deliver real innovation with plant, processes and people.
Key Accountabilities
* Responsibility for leading all continuous improvement, lean manufacturing and process engineering activities to achieve operational excellence.
* Lead introduction of best practice continuous improvement techniques at the shop‑floor level such as workplace organisation, waste elimination, standard work, changeover reduction, TPM, process engineering innovation and mistake proofing. Key results must include cost & lead time reduction.
* Lead workplace safety & quality improvements, including introduction of the ‘safe start’ training programme.
* Evaluate all process improvements and execute plans across manufacturing and warehousing to improve standards to deliver operational excellence.
* Lead projects for the introduction of new equipment, processes and products.
* Ensure KPI targets for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People & Environment are consistently achieved.
* Provide training and coaching in new systems of work as required.
* Develop and execute new standard operating procedures and care points in production.
* Ensure all systems data for BOM’s and real‑time production monitors are accurate.
* Excellent standards of leadership, CI / lean application, communication, personal discipline, H&S, quality, time management, problem solving and customer service.
* Demonstrate a positive attitude, lead by example and action improvements quickly.
* Develop and maintain suitable KPI’s to monitor improvements.
* Promote new ideas, continuous improvement and learning.
* Ensure full compliance with UK HSE Regulations and company safety standards.
* Ensure full compliance with ISO9001, ISO45001, ISO50001 and ISO14001 standards.
* You will be required to be flexible and when required support other operating companies within Epwin in implementing/sharing best practice ‘good’ operations.
Key Experiences and Skills Required
* Good practical understanding of continuous improvement, engineering processes, workplace organisation, safe working practices, visual management, PDCA problem solving, project management, lean manufacturing, six sigma and operations excellence is required.
* Good communication, engagement & rapport with customers, suppliers & employees at all levels is essential.
* +5 years’ experience in delivering continuous improvements using CI, practical problem solving, visual management and operations excellence tools within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
* Computer literate with excellent MS Office skills.
Desirable Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required
* HNC/HND in Manufacturing or engineering related discipline.
* Lean Six Sigma – Black Belt (or working towards).
* Experienced in delivering continuous improvement projects in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
