Salary: From £50,000 per year

Permanent | Full-Time

Our client is seeking an experienced, hands-on Site Manager to take full operational responsibility for a busy recycling and biomass facility.

This is a key leadership role overseeing the safe, compliant, and commercially efficient operation of a high-volume site running 6–7 days per week with a team of up to 15 staff.

If you’re a strong operational leader with experience in recycling, waste, biomass or aggregates, this is an opportunity to make a real impact.

The Role

As Site Manager, you will be accountable for all day-to-day site activities, ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of health & safety and environmental compliance.

You will lead from the front — managing heavy plant operations, supervising staff, overseeing weighbridge activities, and driving continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities

Site Operations

* Take full responsibility for safe, efficient daily site operations
* Oversee wood recycling, biomass processing, aggregates, and green waste activities
* Plan workloads to meet throughput and production targets
* Manage heavy plant operations (shredders, loaders, excavators, crushers, etc.)
* Maintain excellent housekeeping, traffic management, and material flow

People Management

* Lead, motivate, and manage a team of up to 15 employees
* Manage rotas to support a 6–7 day operation
* Conduct inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing training
* Drive a strong safety culture and positive team environment

Health, Safety & Compliance

* Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation
* Maintain Environmental Permit and Waste Management compliance
* Conduct risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations
* Liaise with regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders

Weighbridge & Administration

* Oversee accurate recording of inbound/outbound materials
* Ensure all waste documentation and duty of care requirements are met
* Monitor KPIs including tonnage, downtime, and site performance
* Report performance and improvement plans to senior management

Commercial & Continuous Improvement

* Control site costs and improve operational efficiency
* Identify opportunities to increase recovery and reduce waste
* Support the ongoing growth and development of the site

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

* Proven experience managing a recycling, waste, biomass, or aggregates site
* Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and environmental compliance
* Experience leading teams and managing heavy plant operations
* Hands-on, confident decision-maker
* Strong IT and administrative skills

Desirable:

* WAMITAB qualification (or working towards)
* Experience in wood recycling, biomass, or green waste
* Weighbridge management experience

Why Apply?

* Competitive salary from £50,000 per year
* Full operational control and leadership responsibility
* Opportunity to shape and grow a busy, high-volume site
* Permanent, stable position within a growing sector

If you’re ready to take ownership of a dynamic recycling operation and lead from the front, we’d love to hear from you.
