Job Description
IT Asset & Configuration Manager
* Contract Duration: 10 weeks
* Location: Gloucester (1-2 days a week on-site)
* Job Type: Contract - Outside Ir35
Join Reed Professional Services, a leading Management Consultancy, technology services, and outsourcing company specialising in IT and financial services. We are currently undertaking a critical programme to address a compliance gap related to an incomplete IT asset register. This project is essential for meeting the CAF objective, which requires a full understanding of all systems, data, people, and supporting infrastructure essential to operational continuity.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Lead the design and delivery of the end-to-end IT Asset Management (ITAM) and Configuration Management capability.
* Develop the full process framework, governance model, data standards, and CMDB/asset model required to meet CAF regulatory expectations.
* Design the IT Asset Management lifecycle, including process flows, RACI, control points, and supporting documentation.
* Develop a CAF-aligned asset register methodology, covering logical and physical assets, dependencies, data classifications, and infrastructure.
* Create a tool-agnostic CMDB/asset model, including CI classes, relationships, data standards, stewardship models, KPIs, and quality gates.
* Lead workshops with Technology, Security, Operations, and Service Management teams to establish ownership and governance.
* Define and embed data quality controls, sustainability mechanisms, and an operating model to maintain asset accuracy over time.
* Translate CAF requirements into actionable asset-level controls and produce supporting evidence for assurance.
* Provide platform-agnostic requirements and recommendations for a potential future ITSM tool change.
* Deliver a sustainable, governed model—not a one-off asset inventory.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Strong background in IT Asset Management within complex enterprise environments.
* Proven experience designing CMDB structures, asset taxonomies, meta-models, and governance frameworks.
* Ability to interpret and apply regulatory or standards-based requirements (e.g., CAF, ISO 27001, NIST) to asset management design.
* Demonstrated ability to deliver process-first, governance-led asset and configuration management solutions.
* Skilled facilitator with experience running cross-functional workshops and managing diverse stakeholder groups.
* Comfortable working tool-agnostic, rather than relying on a single platform such as ServiceNow.
* Experience uplifting data quality and establishing ongoing data maintenance models is desirable.
* Experience supporting organisations through ITSM platform assessments or transitions is also desirable.
Benefits:
* Opportunity to work in a leading consultancy and contribute to a critical compliance project.
* Exposure to complex enterprise environments and regulatory standards.
