Pig Stockperson - Somerset - £29,000 – £32,000 + Accommodation
The Job:
A hands on role working on a pig unit in Somerset, supporting the day to day care and management of livestock. You’ll play an important part in keeping high standards of animal welfare, health and performance, while helping the unit run efficiently. The role covers a range of duties across the unit, including feeding, monitoring stock and supporting breeding and farrowing where needed. It’s suited to someone practical and reliable who is confident working with livestock and happy getting stuck in as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily care, feeding, and monitoring of pigs across relevant stages
- Observing health and behaviour, acting quickly if issues arise
- Administering treatments in line with guidance
- Assisting with breeding, farrowing, and piglet care where required
- Safe handling and movement of livestock
- Maintaining accurate records for production and health
- Keeping high standards of hygiene and biosecurity
- Cleaning, preparing, and maintaining housing areas
- Monitoring feed, water, ventilation, and general environment
- Supporting with loading and movement of stock
- Reporting any health, performance, or equipment issues
- Assisting with general farm duties and basic maintenance
The Company:

The Candidate:
- Previous livestock experience (pig experience preferred but not essential)
- Good understanding of animal welfare and husbandry
- Strong attention to detail and ability to spot issues early
- Practical, hands-on approach with a good work ethic
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and basic record-keeping skills
- Full UK driving licence preferred
- Experience in pig production, AI, medicines, or machinery would be an advantage
The Package:
- Salary £29,000 – £32,000 DOE

Hours:
- Typically 40–48 hours per week
- Weekend rota required

All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
