As an Environmental Reporting Advisor, you will have the opportunity to be at the heart of Centrica’s environmental performance strategy driving the quality, insight and reporting that supports our Environment, Social and Governance commitments and shapes our sustainability story.
This opportunity is offered on the basis of a 12-month secondment/fixed-term contract with the possible opportunity for extension.
Location:
We work flexibly in line with our Flexible First working arrangements believing that empowered colleagues are happier and more productive. The successful candidate will, however, need to be comfortable commuting to our Windsor office on a weekly basis and to our other locations as may be needed. Please note that over the coming months we will have an office in Reading and also London Paddington where you may be required to work.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Own and administer our group-wide environmental data collection systems and reporting processes
2. Lead routine data reviews and quality checks, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and readiness for annual external assurance
3. Contribute to high-profile external disclosures, including Centrica’s Annual Report & Accounts, Data Centre and CDP submissions
4. Support senior leaders and our Board with clear, compelling environmental performance insights
5. Help ensure compliance with emerging ESG legislation and standards, including CSRD and ISSB
6. Recruit and line-manage Year‑in‑Industry students, helping grow the next generation of sustainability talent
7. Partner with business units to shape and deliver their environmental performance plans
8. Bring colleagues on our sustainability journey by supporting engagement programmes, communications and events
Here’s who we’re looking for:
Experience
9. Experience of greenhouse gas accounting and an understanding of environmental impacts
10. Strong data analysis, interpretation and problem-solving skills
11. A degree or equivalent experience (preferred)
Skills & Competencies
12. A genuine passion for the environment and sustainability
13. Strong numerical and analytical capability
14. Confidence using MS Office, especially Excel
15. Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment
16. Clear, confident written and verbal communication
17. Comfort working with a variety of software systems
18. A balance of independent working and strong team collaboration
19. Excellent organisation and time management
20. The adaptability to grow in a rapidly evolving field
