Birmingham City Council is looking for Temporary Fleet Maintenance Technicians to join their Fleet Management team at an exciting time of transformation. They've recently invested in new waste vehicles, and their actively reviewing their wider fleet operations—making this a fantastic opportunity to be part of a modern, forward-thinking workshop environment.
This is a temporary role with an immediate start.
Your new role
As a Fleet Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing diagnostics, repairs, and scheduled maintenance on a variety of vehicles. Your work will ensure that all vehicles are maintained to the highest standards, in line with manufacturer specifications and industry regulations.You will conduct thorough post-repair testing to confirm that safety and quality standards are met. Accurate documentation of allpleted work is essential, and you will be expected to maintain detailed records of diagnostics, repairs, and servicing.In addition to your technical duties, you will play a key role in mentoring junior team members, sharing best practices, and fostering a collaborative and efficient workshop environment. Staying informed on emerging technologies and developments in vehicle maintenance will be crucial to your success in this role.
What you'll need to succeed
Our ideal candidate is a qualified HGV mechanic with a valid HGV licence and experience across a range of vehicle types. However, if you don’t tick every box, don’t worry—we’remitted to coaching and training the right individuals who show potential and enthusiasm.Candidates should hold an NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or an equivalent qualification) and possess a valid UK driving licence, with an HGV licence being highly desirable. They should have experience in diagnostics and repairs within a busy workshop or fleet environment, and demonstrate the ability to manageplex repairs independently.
