About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and skilled Maintenance Operative to join our friendly team at Waterloo House. This is a vital role that helps keep our home safe, welcoming, and well-maintained for our residents, visitors, and staff.
You will carry out both planned and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring everything from equipment to gardens and safety systems are in good working order. You'll also act as a Fire Warden, helping us maintain a safe and secure environment.
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same – you might be fixing a light one moment, putting up a fence the next, or helping to decorate a bedroom for a new resident.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out day-to-day maintenance tasks promptly and safely
* Report and action any defects or hazards in the home
* Maintain the grounds, including clearing paths, basic gardening, and keeping outdoor areas tidy
* Support with small decoration or repair jobs to keep the home looking its best
* Test fire alarms, safety equipment, water temperatures, and record checks as required
* Oversee deliveries and ensure safe storage of materials
* Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs
* Promote safe working practices and comply with all Health & Safety policies
* Act as Fire Warden and support emergency procedures
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
* Practical, hands-on, and able to turn their hand to a variety of tasks
* Safety-conscious and aware of health & safety standards
* Reliable, organised, and able to prioritise work effectively
* Friendly, approachable, and respectful of residents' needs and dignity
* Happy to work both independently and as part of a supportive team
Experience in a similar role is desirable, but above all we value a positive attitude, flexibility, and a genuine commitment to making our home a safe and comfortable place to live and work.
What We Offer
* A welcoming and supportive work environment
* The opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day
* Ongoing training and development
* Being part of a team that truly values the well-being of residents and staff
If you take pride in your work and would like to join a team that makes a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.
