We are looking to recruit two highly motivated clinical/ counselling psychologists or psychological therapists to join our Complex Emotional Needs and Complex Trauma team in Tower Hamlets. The post is suitable for someone with enthusiasm and experience in working with people with complex trauma, high level of risk and multiple needs in a compassionate, trauma-informed and collaborative way. The role requires a good grounding in psychological theory and formulation, experience in supervision and team support but also a flexible and creative approach to psychological interventions in community settings. This is an excellent opportunity to engage with the development of new pathways of care for people with multiple needs and the successful candidate will benefit from continuing professional development in trauma-informed practice. Person Specification Education/Qualification/Training Essential • Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology or equivalence (statement of equivalence (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996)) and able to demonstrate eligibility for BPS CPsychol (Chartered Psychologist) • Have an NHS Core Profession (Nurse, Allied Health Profession, Medical Doctor, Social Worker) and have completed a minimum of one year of recognised full-time (or equivalent part-time) psychological therapy or counselling training leading to a qualification, certification or accreditation recognised by a relevant professional or regulatory body (namely UKCP, BACP, BABCP or ACAT). • Current Registration with HCPC • Clinical supervision training for doctoral clinical /counselling psychology trainees. • Training in at least one evidence-based psychological treatment for complex PTSD, such as EMDR and Trauma Focused CBT • Breakaway Training Desirable • Additional qualification in a therapeutic model relevant to the post (e.g. DBT, MBT, CAT, EMDR) • Additional qualification in systemic therapy • Additional qualification in trauma focused therapy (e.g. TF CBT, EMDR, CFT) • Training in Trauma Informed Care (TIC) • Training in Supervision Experience Essential • Evidence of continuing professional development particularly in relation to the development of knowledge and skills for working with people with complex trauma, substance misuse and significant difficulties in the area of their interpersonal functioning • Experience of supervising or mentoring psychological therapists and/or psychologists • Demonstrable experience of working therapeutically in mental health settings directly with service users with severe and complex needs e.g. complex trauma, personality disorders, self-harm, substance misuse etc. • Experience of facilitating group therapies and group psychological interventions • Experience of psychological assessment, formulation and treatment of service users across the full range of multidisciplinary care settings • At least two years post qualification experience of work in the NHS Desirable • Experience of co-production with experts-by-experience • Experience of co-facilitating multi-disciplinary therapeutic interventions • Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for patients psychological care and treatment, within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan. • Knowledge of the characteristics of the local population of Tower Hamlets Knowledge and Skills Essential • Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, in both verbal and written form clinically sensitive information to patients, other professional colleagues, families, and carers within a highly emotive and unpredictable environment. • To be able to engage with service users, carers and experts-by-experience in the co-production of meaningful interventions including training, treatments and other wellbeing-focused endeavours. • Ability to utilise all available resources in the local community that may support the clients recovery, including non-statutory services and support. • Capacity to work calmly and thoughtfully when addressing traumatic psychological issues, demonstrating an awareness of the sensitivity and unpredictability of individuals who have experienced complex trauma, and a capacity to tolerate the strong emotions evoked by such work Desirable • Knowledge of theory and skills required for the delivery of specialist treatments, such as trauma focused therapies, MBT, DBT and CAT • Experience of supervising staff from other disciplines. • Knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex, multivariate data analysis and service evaluation.
