Overview:
A leading technology and innovation consultancy is looking for a Senior AI/ML Research Scientist to join its growing Data and Decision Support capability. This role focuses on developing advanced algorithms and machine learning solutions for sequential (time-series) data, including sensor signals, RF, radar, sonar, and related applications.
You'll work at the forefront of AI/ML innovation, contributing to real-world projects in defence, security, space, and commercial sectors. Collaborating in multi-disciplinary teams, you'll help drive applied research, develop prototypes, and mentor junior researchers.
Key Responsibilities: Lead delivery of technical research projects, supporting junior researchers and producing high-quality reports, proposals, and demonstrators
Conduct novel research in machine learning, signal processing, and decision-making, often in collaboration with universities or research partners
Develop proof-of-concept tools and algorithms, primarily in Python
Present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to the wider research community via patents or publications where appropriate
Essential Skills & Experience: PhD or equivalent industry experience in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline
Several years of post-PhD experience applying AI/ML and/or statistical signal processing to sequential or time-series data
Strong Python development skills with experience in ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)
Ability to lead and deliver research programmes independently and in teams
Desirable Experience (one or more of the following): RF communications or electronic warfare (EW)
Radar or acoustic (e.g., sonar) signal processing
Sensor fusion and multi-sensor tracking
Distributed sensing systems or edge ML
Autonomy and human-machine teaming
Space-domain awareness (SDA)
Navigation, positioning, and timing systems
Behavioural analytics or pattern of life modelling
Why Apply? Join a cutting-edge AI research team with real-world impact
Work across defence, national security, and emerging commercial technologies
Collaborate with leading academic partners
Benefit from flexible working, learning opportunities, and structured career growth
If you're a passionate AI/ML researcher with expertise in signal data and real-time decision-making, this is a unique opportunity to work on meaningful innovation in a secure and collaborative environment.
