We are seeking Specialty Doctors to join a team alongside 94 Consultant Anaesthetists, 13 Associate Specialists, 33 existing Specialty Doctors, and 42 Specialty Trainees, to provide comprehensive anaesthetic services.
These posts are based at Queen’s Hospital with the opportunity to rotate to RDH by mutual agreement. We support doctors aiming to progress via a CESR route.
The position involves an average of 10 programmed activities per week, with an additional 3.2 PAs available upon joining the on-call rota. The roles include interests such as theatre work, obstetric anaesthesia, intensive care, and resident on-call duties. Flexibility in working hours is essential. The Specialty Doctors are coordinated by a dedicated Consultant, and a Tutor has been appointed to support their educational and developmental needs across all specialties.
Queen’s Hospital Burton features a main theatre suite with 5 operating theatres and an 8-bed recovery area. Most surgical specialties, excluding orthopaedics, operate here. There is an adjacent elective admissions lounge for pre-theatre patient arrivals. The orthopaedic theatre complex includes a trauma theatre and a stand-alone Treatment Centre with 6 theatres, primarily for day cases including ophthalmic procedures. In June 2020, two dedicated orthopaedic theatres and a 28-bed ward were opened adjacent to the Treatment Centre.
Following a £5 million refurbishment, Queen’s Hospital Burton now has a fully upgraded ICU with 14 beds, supporting up to 8 Level 3 patients, including isolation rooms for acute care and rehabilitation. The department benefits from experienced medical, clinical, and non-clinical teams.
