Contract: Permanent | Hours: 44 hours per week over 4 days | Shift pattern: 8am–8pm | Weekends: Every other weekend off
About the role
At Wetherby Manor, we believe great care starts with kindness, respect and clinical excellence. We’re looking for an experienced, compassionate Senior Nurse to provide hands-on clinical leadership and help our residents live with comfort, dignity and choice every day. Working closely with the Home Manager, you’ll champion person-centred care, support clinical governance and compliance, and nurture a positive, learning culture where colleagues feel valued and supported to do their best work.
What you’ll be doing
1. Provide visible clinical leadership and act as a role model for best practice.
2. Lead on clinical standards, governance, risk management and continuous improvement.
3. Ensure safe, effective and person-centred nursing care at all times, including end-of-life care.
4. Support complex clinical decision-making, escalation and safeguarding processes.
5. Oversee assessment, care planning, documentation and regular review processes.
6. Maintain compliance with CQC requirements, organisational policies and professional standards (NMC).
7. Lead and participate in audits, investigations and learning from incidents (including root cause analysis).
8. Work collaboratively with residents, families, advocates and external healthcare professionals (GPs, community teams, MDT).
9. Coach, mentor and develop nurses and care staff; support supervision, training, competencies and revalidation.
10. Support pre-admission/initial assessments and contribute to effective admissions and discharge planning.
What we’re looking for
Essential
11. Registered Nurse (Adult) with a valid NMC registration.
12. Significant post-registration experience, ideally within elderly nursing care.
13. Experience supervising or leading a clinical team.
14. Strong understanding of CQC standards and clinical governance.
15. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with empathy and a person-centred approach.
16. Ability to manage competing priorities and remain calm in challenging situations.
17. Flexibility to work across the rota and be available in reasonable emergencies.
Desirable
18. Previous experience as a Clinical Lead, Deputy Manager or Senior Nurse.
19. Leadership/management qualification and/or training/assessor qualification.
20. Experience supporting dementia and/or complex care.
21. Experience leading quality improvement initiatives.
