Your future role
We are hiring a Senior Maintenance and Technical Support Engineer, based primarily at our Central Rivers Depot, Barton location. The role will involve travel to other depot locations in close proximity when required.
You will be working as part of a team of Engineers across the DMU/DEMU fleet platform delivering activities and projects to provide a safe, reliable and cost-efficient fleet of trains, which meets the Train Operator’s presentation requirements and complies with their Safety Case obligations. This role is a senior position and you will be supporting a team of engineers complete their roles.
We’ll look to you for:
1. Develop and deliver engineering change to improve fleet/system reliability performance, reduce cost of maintenance & deliver customer variation solutions.
2. Identify and implement safe, cost effective, containments and countermeasures to identified product safety issues.
3. Planning and delivery readiness (inc. BoM’s, work instructions & configuration) for planned maintenance activities, as defined by the Vehicle Maintenance Instruction.
4. Ensure that the specified fleet maintenance regime is certificated, adhered to and complies with all relevant legislation, and associated limitations are effectively managed.
5. Use engineering knowledge, problem solving skills, standard project management techniques and awareness of standards and the constraints of the delivery organisation to support, justify and manage changes.
6. Support day to day depot operations teams in resolving arising fleet issues – this includes the requirement to undertake out of hours duties as part of an on-call roster.

7. Ideally educated to Degree or Higher Certificate in engineering/technical discipline or equivalent.
8. Strong organisational, resource management and decision-making skills.
9. Strong engineering/technical knowledge of traction and rolling stock systems and maintenance policies/practices.
10. Strong stakeholder management skills.
11. Experience in fleet maintenance or asset management environment.
12. Experience in delivering rail vehicle engineering change, including risk assessments and approvals.
13. Knowledge of rail industry legislation and safety case obligations.
