THE ROLE
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Management Accountant who will be based in our Bellshill Office on a fixed term 12-month maternity leave contract.
This is an excellent opportunity to join our finance team, where you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations and month-end reporting processes.
The role offers a diverse range of responsibilities, including internal and external reporting, fixed asset management, and business partnering with varied departments across the Company.
Key duties will include, but not be limited to:
Internal & External Reporting
* Ownership and preparation of all month end reporting, including analysis with commentary
* Preparation of posting journals to ledger
* Maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register
* Capex reporting, lease accounting(includes ROU leases under IFRS) and preparation of the Group consolidation (under IFRS)
* Submit latest estimates via our Cooke Scotland budgeting tool (OneStream) and support the annual budget process
* Deal with ONS questionnaires and external audit queries
* Responsible for insurance and biomass submissions to various stakeholders.
Support to Management
* Be able to identify and flag issues around controls and identify connections required within numbers reported
* Statutory reporting and disclosure schedules
* Be initial point of contact for queries relating to Company accounts
* Form strong relationships with Company operational support teams to understand costs at each site and any issues being identified through the reporting.
SKILLS REQUIRED
The ideal candidate will be suitably qualified or have demonstratable relevant experience, bring advanced technical accounting knowledge and experience, with a strong understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS to support both internal and external reporting requirements. Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Excel is essential, along with the ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy. You will have a proactive mindset and be someone who takes initiative to resolve issues and implement sustainable solutions. You will be naturally curious, eager to learn about the business, and skilled at building relationships to enhance their understanding, with the ability to identify knowledge gaps and deliver practical, effective solutions will be highly valued in this role.
