Education Welfare Officer
Salary – £30,024 – £33,699 (Grade 5)
Hours – 37 Hours per week
Post Types – 2 Full‑time permanent posts; 1 Term‑Time Only post (salary pro‑rata)
Work Style – Flexible: 1 day office‑based, with home and field working.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the City of Wolverhampton’s Attendance Service as an Education Welfare Officer. The Attendance Service works alongside schools and families to encourage the education engagement of young people within Wolverhampton and to ensure positive outcomes for all. The postholder will support our traded attendance offer to schools, ensuring duties around attendance are carried out effectively, and will work collaboratively with families, schools and partner agencies to help all young people receive a suitable education. The Attendance Team is part of Wolverhampton's SEND and Inclusion service, which includes the Educational Psychology Service, SEN Early Identification and Support team and Inclusion team, and is committed to child‑centred, inclusive and solution‑focused service delivery.
Key Requirements
* Be self‑motivated and able to work on your own initiative as part of a fast‑moving team, within statutory frameworks.
* Have experience and knowledge of legal processes and relevant legislation relating to school attendance, children missing education and children not in full‑time education.
* Be able to demonstrate understanding and application of guidance regarding school attendance, children missing education and children not in full‑time education.
* Have the ability to develop excellent working relationships with schools, families and partner agencies.
* Be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Have demonstrable ability to provide support and challenge where needed.
