Job Summary:

Can you make a positive difference to the lives of the people in our care at Mountbatten Hampshire? As a Mountbatten Housekeeper, you will ensure the highest possible standards of hygiene and cleanliness are met and maintained in all areas of the Hospice, putting patients at the heart of everything you do.

With an enthusiastic, can-do attitude, and the ability to work on your own initiative, you will help ensure the Hospice is always clean and welcoming for all. Hours to be worked on a rota basis, including weekends and bank holidays.


Main Duties:

* Maintain a quality, effective, consistent and reliable housekeeping service across all areas at Mountbatten Hampshire.
* Ensure a pleasant, safe, clean and welcoming environment is provided for patients, visitors, employees and volunteers.

Job Responsibilities:

* Participate in all housekeeping duties on the Inpatient Unit (IPU), including cleaning patient rooms, bathrooms, beds and equipment.
* Carry out housekeeping duties to ensure communal areas, day services, staff offices and staff areas are clean and well-maintained.
* Follow Mountbatten guidelines for colour coded equipment and safe working practices.
* Dispose of waste following the correct standards and requirements.
* Taking down and hanging of curtains.
* Maintain personal awareness of Health & Safety and bring any risks to the attention of the appropriate manager.
* Observe complete confidentiality of all information relating to patients, employees, volunteers and hospice business.


Person Specification:

* Desirable: NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning & Support Services or willing to undertake training.
* Essential: Ability to adhere to COSHH and Infection Control procedures, ability and willingness to work flexibly, previous experience of working in an environment that requires a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
* Physically fit and able to carry out any manual handling tasks associated with the role.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of operating and using cleaning machinery / equipment.
