A well-established and growing multi-office law firm in Liverpool is seeking an experienced Compliance Solicitor (COLP) to join its senior leadership team. This is a pivotal role within the business, offering the opportunity to shape and strengthen the firm’s regulatory framework while supporting continued growth.
The Role As Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP), you will take overall responsibility for the firm’s regulatory compliance and risk management function. Working closely with the Board and senior management, you will ensure adherence to SRA regulations and promote a strong culture of compliance across all offices.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Acting as the firm’s designated COLP in accordance with SRA requirements
2. Monitoring and ensuring compliance with the SRA Standards and Regulations
3. Developing, implementing, and maintaining firm-wide compliance policies and procedures
4. Managing risk assessments and regulatory reporting obligations
5. Handling complaints, claims, and liaising with insurers where required
6. Delivering training to staff on compliance, risk, and regulatory updates
7. Advising partners and senior management on regulatory matters and best practice
8. Supporting audits and file reviews across multiple office locations
About You
9. Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales
10. Significant experience in legal compliance and regulatory matters
11. Previous experience as COLP (or ready to step into the role)
12. Strong working knowledge of SRA Standards and Regulations
13. Confident communicator with the ability to influence at Partner level
14. Highly organised with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
15. Commercially aware with a pragmatic approach to risk
