Job Description: Product Developer (Upholstery) Location: Northampton (Head Office) Reports to: Product Development Manager About the Company We are a leading commercial furniture brand known for innovation, craftsmanship, and sustainability. Partnering with international design studios and global clients, we deliver creative, design-led furniture solutions. Our upholstery team plays a key role in turning great ideas into beautifully made products. The Role As a Product Developer, you'll take new upholstered furniture from concept through to production. Working closely with our in-house design team and international partners, you'll ensure projects are delivered on time, to spec, and to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with design studios to turn creative concepts into technically and commercially feasible products. Develop prototypes, test comfort and ergonomics, and solve construction challenges. Source and test upholstery materials, foams, and finishes aligned with design intent and sustainability goals. Produce and maintain detailed specifications, drawings, and technical documentation. Liaise with suppliers, manufacturers, and internal teams to manage sampling and production. Provide technical expertise to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and scalable solutions. Support the development and improvement of existing upholstery ranges. Skills & Experience Proven experience in upholstery and pattern cutting (commercial furniture experience desirable). Strong understanding of upholstery construction, foams, textiles, and frames. Experience working with external or international design partners (a plus). Hands-on, practical problem-solving approach. Excellent communication, organisation, and multitasking skills. CAD or technical drawing experience (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) - beneficial but not essential.
