Job Description
JOB PURPOSE:
1. Reliability engineering, physics-of-failure study, and formal qualification of InP and SiP chips
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
2. Definition and implementation of optical component reliability qualification programmes.
3. Assessment of optoelectronic component ageing characteristics, extracting failure mode specific degradation model & quantifying risks.
4. Customer interfacing on reliability documentation and reliability work based on solid knowledge of physics-of-failures.
5. Problem solving, test and characterisation engineering, and statistical data analysis.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
6. Assessment of reliability risks and the rapid verification of product reliability to the satisfaction of both internal and external customers.
7. Close working collaboration with chip design, process engineering, test engineering, product engineering, quality engineering and other downstream internal and external customers.
Education/Qualification - Minimum:
8. Masters degree in Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Material Science or similar related discipline. Strong academic background is essential.
Skills/Competencies Essential:
A minimum of 5 years experience in Semiconductor Optoelectronics with demonstrable competencies in the following:
9. Experience in opto-electronic component reliability and qualification, including programme definition, planning and implementation.
10. Comprehensive knowledge of optoelectronic-specific failure modes in, lasers, photodetector, modulators, resistors, waveguides and fibre coupling.
11. Hands-on experience on accelerated life testing and life-prediction of opto-electronic devices using reliability modeling using statistical software packages: Reliasoft/Weibull++, JMP, Minitab, Python.
12. Demonstrated ability use Design for Reliability, FMEA, and FTA frameworks.
13. Excellent report writing and presentation skills, able to robustly defend data analysis and conclusions.
Skills/Competencies Desirable:
14. PhD in Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Material Science or similar related discipline
15. Experience in fabrication and process engineering with an understanding of how design and manufacturing variables influence reliability performance.
16. Experience in test instrumentation engineering for die level characterisation and experience in C/C#, and Python.
17. Experience in using root-cause analysis using Electroluminescence, FIB, SEM/TEM and EDX.
18. Experience in Opto-electronic component design and applicability in design for reliability using COMSOL or Ansys.
19. Experience in deploying Machine Learning models for large reliability datasets.
20. Experience with customer communications on matters of reliability and qualification is beneficial.
21. Experience in mentoring is desirable.

24. Ability to travel worldwide to visit customers to discuss reliability work.
