Job overview

We are seeking a motivated and proactive Programme Delivery Practitioner (Band 7) to join the Efficiency and Productivity team within the Finance Directorate.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of the Trust’s efficiency programme, working closely with clinical, operational and corporate teams to drive improvement, productivity and value. The post-holder will play a key role in supporting the development and delivery of efficiency projects, ensuring that robust plans, governance and reporting mechanisms are in place.

You will gain exposure to a wide range of programmes and develop expertise in project management, data analysis and benefits realisation, contributing to both financial and non-financial improvements across the organisation.

This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. Sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds, and any role-specific criteria. For example, applicants for the Senior HCA role must be able to evidence a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the same role to qualify for sponsorship.

Main duties of the job

1. Support the delivery of efficiency and productivity projects across clinical and corporate areas
2. Work with divisional teams to identify opportunities, develop plans and support implementation of improvement initiatives
3. Assist in developing and maintaining robust project documentation, including Project Initiation Documents (PIDs), risk logs and delivery plans
4. Support the tracking and reporting of project progress, risks and benefits realisation
5. Analyse performance, activity and benchmarking data to identify opportunities and inform decision-making
6. Work collaboratively with Finance, Workforce and operational teams to ensure alignment of financial and operational objectives
7. Support the development of KPIs and ensure benefits are clearly defined, measured and tracked
8. Contribute to governance processes, including preparation of highlight reports and supporting programme oversight
9. Build effective relationships with stakeholders and support engagement across multidisciplinary teams

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post-holder will support the delivery and assurance of efficiency projects within the Trust’s Efficiency Programme, working under the direction of senior colleagues to deliver agreed workstreams within defined quality, cost and time parameters.

They will contribute to the development of programme plans, ensuring that projects are underpinned by clear governance, including PIDs, Equality and Quality Impact Assessments, and robust risk and issue management processes. The role involves supporting the tracking and reporting of progress and benefits realisation, ensuring that both financial and non-financial outcomes are clearly defined and monitored.

The post-holder will undertake analysis of performance, activity and benchmarking data to identify improvement opportunities and support feasibility assessment. They will work closely with clinical, corporate and finance colleagues to support implementation of improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with divisional and Trust priorities.

The role also provides an opportunity to develop expertise in project management and continuous improvement methodologies, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation.

10. Experience in project management or continuous improvement system, ideally in the NHS
11. Experience of presenting to groups using Microsoft PowerPoint or similar
12. Plan and prioritise objectives within the workstream and own work
13. Knowledge of improvement methodologies
14. Excellent communication and presentation skills, through all mediums, Ability to adapt communication style depending on stakeholder

Desirable criteria

15. Ability to present complex ideas and concepts to a range of stakeholders including clinical and executive
16. Experience of cost/benefit analysis of expenditure and management of budgets
17. To analyse and interpret information and figures and take appropriate action and provide advice as a result.

Interview Criteria

Essential criteria

18. Experience in project management or continuous improvement system, ideally in the NHS
19. Knowledge acquired within area of specialism through training / attending study days and / or courses
20. Plan and prioritise objectives within the workstream and own work
21. Programme management knowledge including cost, quality and risk management.
22. Excellent communication and presentation skills, through all mediums, Ability to adapt communication style depending on stakeholder
23. Evidence of having championed diversity in previous roles (as appropriate to role).

Desirable criteria

24. Ability to present complex ideas and concepts to a range of stakeholders including clinical and executive
25. Experience of cost/benefit analysis of expenditure and management of budgets
26. To analyse and interpret information and figures and take appropriate action and provide advice as a result.
27. Experience of managing large scale projects including definition, design and delivery
28. Experience & knowledge of Lean management & measurement systems, whether as part of an improvement project or as an organisational initiative.
