We are currently supporting a well-established and highly respected precision engineering company that delivers complex CNC machined components into sectors such as aerospace, motorsport, oil & gas, and defence.
With continued investment in advanced multi-axis machining and a strong project pipeline, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Purchasing Manager to strengthen their supply chain function.
The Opportunity
This is a key leadership role within the business, responsible for driving purchasing strategy, supplier performance, and cost efficiency across a fast-paced CNC manufacturing environment.
You’ll work closely with production, planning, and senior leadership to ensure materials and subcontract services are delivered on time, at the right cost, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead all purchasing and procurement activities across the business
* Build and manage a high-performing, reliable supplier base
* Source raw materials including aluminium, stainless steels, and exotic alloys
* Manage subcontract processes such as heat treatment, anodising, and grinding
* Negotiate pricing, contracts, and long-term supply agreements
* Monitor supplier KPIs (cost, quality, delivery)
* Collaborate with internal teams to align procurement with production schedules
* Drive continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives
* Maintain compliance with industry quality standards and traceability requirements
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience in a Purchasing Manager / Senior Buyer role within CNC machining or precision engineering
* Strong knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing processes
* Experience working with ERP/MRP systems
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings (advantageous)
* Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills
* Commercially aware with a proactive, solutions-driven mindset
* Experience within regulated sectors (aerospace, defence, etc.) is highly desirable
