Purpose of the Job
We are looking to appoint a person to support a child with Additional Learning Needs at the Nursery. They will be responsible for ensuring the child’s safety and understanding of instructions. They will participate in the room’s activities, taking small groups to complete tasks with additional support. They will also be responsible for collecting information and reporting to the room staff about how the child is developing and reaching milestones, thus allowing the staff to prepare detailed assessments and reports on their progress. They will also liaise with the child’s parents on occasions, reporting on their time at the nursery.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Supporting a child with ALN to carry out tasks safely
2. Working towards achieving targets set out by SENCO
3. Working alongside nursery staff to prepare suitable activities
4. Reporting on child’s progress and development
5. Liaising with parents about child’s day at nursery

Qualifications/Training
Essential
9. Level 2 in childcare qualification and willing to work towards level 3.
Desirable
10. Safeguarding certificate.
11. First aid certificate.
Experience/Knowledge
Essential
12. Previous experience of caring for/or working with children ages from birth to five years old in a voluntary or paid capacity, including those with ALN.
13. An awareness of and some understanding of the importance of health and safety and food hygiene in the workplace.
Desirable
14. An understanding of the foundation phase curriculum.
15. Knowledge of the national standards for the regulation of childcare provision.

16. Good communication skills with children, colleagues, advisors and parents/carers.

18. A positive approach to inclusive practice with children and colleagues.
