Are you an experienced Specialist Doctor in General Adult Psychiatry? We are seeking a full‑time Specialist Doctor in General Adult Psychiatry for our Christchurch and Southbourne Community Mental Health Team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated psychiatrist to join us and play a key role in shaping and developing services in line with the NHS Long Term Plan and the Community Mental Health Framework.
Job responsibilities
* Provide assessment and ongoing care for service users.
* Give advice and guidance to local GPs and the clinical leadership of the multi‑professional team.
* Participate in the East Dorset middle‑grade on‑call rota; on‑call covered paid at 3% on‑call availability supplement plus one additional program activity (APA) for full‑time participation.
* Provide cross‑cover for annual, study and emergency sick leave with the Specialist Doctor / Associate Specialist for neighbouring Bournemouth East CMHT.
Additional responsibilities include supporting flexible working arrangements and contributing to the Trust’s learning and development pathway for specialist doctors.
Benefits

Salary: £104,401 to £115,341 a year, pro‑rata for part‑time.
Person Specification
Qualifications / Training
* General medical qualification (e.g., MBBS) and hold a licence to practice.
Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Minimum of twelve years of clinical working experience post basic medical qualification and four years’ full‑time postgraduate training in psychiatry (or equivalent).
* High levels of competence in diagnosis, risk assessment, care planning and prescribing.
* Organisational skills and ability to manage own workload.
Leadership Skills
* Provide clinical leadership to a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Prioritise work to meet competing clinical demands.
Clinical Governance
* Support clinical governance principles, including audit and outcome measures.
* Demonstrate understanding of continuing professional development and re‑validation.
Teamwork
* Understand principles of multi‑disciplinary team working.
* Work effectively as a member of a team and liaise with colleagues.
Management Skills
* Work with managers for good patient care.
* Understand own strengths and weaknesses.
* Manage stresses associated with specialty doctor roles.
