We seek patient, caring, and alert Support Workers for Luke, born in 2012. Luke is sociable, enjoys swimming, walking, physical play, outings, and using his iPad. He lives with his mother and nearby family, with a fondness for local sausage rolls.
Luke suffered a severe brain injury at birth. He is fully mobile but non-verbal, very active, and requires full support for personal care, is doubly incontinent, and has limited danger awareness, needing 24/7 supervision.
Your role involves supporting Luke with personal care, engaging in meaningful activities, sometimes with his mother. You must be water confident for swimming activities. You will learn non-verbal communication methods and use his talk pad. Close supervision, understanding strategies to keep him focused and calm, positive language, patience, and play are essential.
This role offers development opportunities in skills and is highly rewarding for those with effective communication, patience, tact, warmth, and compassion.
