Are you a procurement professional with experience in running a competitive procurement process, contract drafting and negotiations, and vendor management? We have an opportunity for a Senior Buyer (Senior Purchasing Officer), who will be authorized to make contractual commitments for the acquisition of commodities.
You'll be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the acquisition process and maximizing acquisition strategies. Your activities will include coordinating projects, monitoring, and maintaining vendor performance, creating contractual documents, and conducting negotiations while responding to both external and internal clients in a high-pressure environment.
How you'll make a difference: You'll help protect the financial integrity of B.C.'s workers' compensation system, ensuring we serve British Columbians now and in the future.
Where you'll Work
At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely and in our offices based on the operational needs of the position.
For this position, the successful candidate is required to work 2 days per week in our Richmond office.
What you'll do
* Manage a portfolio of contracts ensuring timely sourcing or renewal
* Arrange necessary project resources to ensure the clients' requirements are met by creating and monitoring procurement timelines and preparing associated bid documents
* Plan, lead, and facilitate the procurement process in multi-disciplinary procurement project team meetings
* Conduct and coordinate pre-bid meetings, on-site tours, and act as a mediator in representing WorkSafeBC interests and vendor fair play
* Prepare, write, and review legal contracts and analyze contracts for potential problems and opportunities

* Establish and maintain credible and cooperative working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers
* Identify and thoroughly analyze complex purchases and make recommendations in accordance with established policies using initiative, resourcefulness, and sound judgment
* Provide working knowledge of legal issues and financial principles as they relate to the sale of goods and services
* Present technical information in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in writing, to technical and non-technical audiences
Your background and experience
* A minimum of six years of supply chain/procurement experience, including experience running a competitive procurement process, drafting contracts, and vendor relationship management
* Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation from the Supply Chain Management Association (or equivalent body)
* Post-secondary degree in a related discipline is preferred
We'll consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.
