An exciting opportunity has arisen atPendle View Medical Centre in Brierfield Lancashire for an enthusiastic MedicalReceptionist/Patient Care Navigator to join our busy, but supportive team.
Main duties to include dealing withincoming telephone calls confidently and signpost patients to the appropriateservice or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effectiveway.
To be able to process appointmentrequests from patients by telephone or by the relevant NHS approvedcommunication tool, following the Care Navigation protocol.
Will need to deal with generalenquires, liaising with clinicians and other members of staff.
Involve some administrative duties asrequired.
Experience within General Practiceand the ability to use EMIS Web software would be desirable.
Must demonstrate excellent IT skillsand proficient in Microsoft Office applications is essential.
We are looking to recruit an efficient, and enthusiastic person 25 hours a week on a rota basis.
The hours of work will be over 5 days and between 08:00am and 6:30pm per day on a rota which may change at short notice to cover sickness and annual leave. You will be required to cover extended hours from 6.30 pm until 8.30pm one evening per week on a rota basis.
Main duties of the job
The suitable team-worker will need excellent customer service/communication skills and also be flexible for any sickness/holiday cover in a very busy, computerised surgery which is open 8am 6.30pm plus extended hours until 8.30pm.
Previous experience desirable, though not essential as training will be provided.
Clerical and keyboard skills are essential.

We are a research practice with 1 research practitioner. We are also a training practice and regularly have students on placement with us throughout the year.

* To provide a professional and comprehensive information support service to the practice team.
* The post holder will be expected to undertake a range of clerical task, including the use of a PC for data inputting and operation of the EMIS Web system.
* To provide a point of reception contact for patients and act as a focal point of communication between patients doctors and other members of the clinical and administrative staff.

* GCSE grade A to C (or equivalent) in Maths and English.

* Experience of routine administration tasks i.e. filing, record-keeping.
