Job Title
Design and Innovate to Value (I2V) Engineer - Transport
Location
Cross Lane, Bradford
About Us
Gardner Denver Transport provides equipment which efficiently transfers bulk material from road tankers and other vehicles. As global requirements advanced, we started developing into wider applications and we now produce equipment for alternative markets including specialised transport, on-board power systems for operating/powering other equipment, and bespoke electric compressor packages for e-mobility vehicles.
Within our Bradford facility we design, machine, assembly and install our entire Bulk Powder and Liquid Compressor range for Road Transport Vehicles. Providing our customers with the whole product life cycle is number one for us and with our mobile service engineers we offer from concept design, manufacture, installation and aftermarket support.

The role has equal accountability for:
1. Developing new products and product enhancements that meet customer, performance, quality, and regulatory requirements
2. Driving engineering‑led value creation and cost reduction across existing and new products
By working across the full product lifecycle, the Design Engineer ensures that cost, manufacturability, standardisation, and customer value are embedded into designs from concept through industrialisation and into series production.
The role works closely with Product Management, Engineering, i2V Leadership, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Quality, and Operations to support IRTS growth, margin, and competitiveness objectives.
Responsibilities
1. New Product Development

5. Support the full NPD lifecycle from concept generation, design, validation, and verification through to industrialisation and launch.
6. Apply design‑for‑manufacturability, design‑for‑assembly, reliability, safety, and cost-conscious design principles during development.
7. Participate actively in design reviews, identifying technical risks, trade‑offs, and opportunities for simplification or standardisation.
8. Support supplier engagement for NPD, including feasibility input, technical clarification, and validation of supplied components.
9. Ensure all new designs comply with performance, quality, safety, and applicable regulatory requirements.
2. I2V Project Execution & Value Engineering

11. Apply structured value engineering, DFx, and cost‑reduction methodologies to identify and implement technical solutions.
12. Translate ideas into engineering concepts, designs, and analyses ready for validation and industrialisation.
13. Support feasibility studies, design trade‑offs, and technical risk assessments for i2V initiatives.
14. Contribute to the delivery of annualised cost savings and margin improvement targets.
3. Cross‑Functional Collaboration
15. Work closely with Product Management, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations teams to deliver NPD and i2V projects.
16. Support coordination with suppliers on component design, alternative materials, technologies, and manufacturing methods.
17. Ensure smooth handover of solutions into manufacturing and supply chain once validated.
18. Escalate technical issues, risks, or dependencies in a timely manner.
4. Voice of Customer (VoC) & Market Insight
