This is a key operational role positioned at the forefront of sales and customer service, responsible for coordinating the full hire lifecycle while delivering a consistently high standard of service.About the roleBased within the depot, the Hire Desk Controller plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of equipment hire services. Relationship building is central to success in this role, as you will manage the end-to-end hire process — from initial enquiry through to delivery, collection and completion — while liaising with colleagues across the depot to ensure customer needs are met.Working in a fast-paced, desk-based environment, you will collaborate closely with stock teams, drivers, engineers and operational colleagues to coordinate equipment availability, minimise delays and maintain clear communication with customers throughout the hire process.Key responsibilitiesCoordinate the full hire process from enquiry through to completionBuild and maintain strong customer relationships, delivering excellent service at every stageProcess orders accurately using internal systems and maintain up-to-date recordsLiaise with stock teams to confirm equipment availability and readinessCoordinate with drivers and engineers to arrange timely deliveries, collections and exchangesMonitor open orders and proactively resolve delays or service issuesMaintain regular communication with customers to provide updates and manage expectationsWork collaboratively with depot and operational teams to support business performanceEnsure compliance with company processes, procedures and service standardsSupport your business unit/team in delivering our ESG Strategy — Decade to DeliverWhat you'll needStrong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectivelyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsA flexible and adaptable approach in a fast-paced environmentA proactive mindset and willingness to learn and developFull UK driving licencePrevious experience within the hire industry or a similar sales or operational environment (desirable)Training and developmentWe will provide everything you need to succeed in this role.
