Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a part time Safeguarding and Welfare Officer to join the team on a term time only basis (22.2 hours a week, 39 weeks per year). In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £31,220-£33,285 per annum pro rata.
We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake appropriate safeguarding checks which includes an enhanced DBS check as well as providing proof of right to work in the UK.
Responsibilities
* Serving as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead referring, reporting and recording any concerns.
* Supporting and managing safeguarding referrals that are triaged and directed for intervention and swiftly action.
* Reporting safeguarding and welfare concerns to the Safeguarding and Welfare Manager and assist with supporting learners.
* Working closely with all stakeholders and external agencies to support the needs of the college learners and ensure they stay safe, attending meetings where necessary.
* Overseeing a caseload of students who require safeguarding and welfare support.
* Working dynamically and efficiently to manage safeguarding and welfare caseloads and monitor their provision.
* Attending meetings to share information and concerns about individual students, to enable a holistic approach.
* Monitoring, recording and reporting on students' online activities to enable any preventative action to be taken to ensure they stay safe and are well educated about potential risks.
Requirements / Qualifications
* GCSE English and Maths – grade C/4 or above.
* Professional qualification in a relevant area – teaching, social work, youth work, mental health nursing, counselling, children's residential care and/or other children's services roles.
* Proven track record of supporting young people with complex mental health or welfare needs.
* Previous experience of working with young people.
* Knowledge and understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
* The ability to build and maintain stable, productive and appropriate relationships with young people and parents/carers.
