About the Water Consultancy Division
The Water Consultancy Division is Mott MacDonald’s centre of excellence for water and wastewater challenges. Our multidisciplinary teams support the full project life‑cycle—from feasibility studies and design to construction support, site supervision and commissioning—providing technical expertise across the UK and overseas.
Overview of the Role
After recent major water project successes, we are looking for experienced project managers to lead multidisciplinary teams in our UK offices. You will manage a broad range of water sector projects, including:
* Water treatment
* Water storage and transfers
* Wastewater recycling
* Industrial process water
* Desalination
* Irrigation
* Hydropower
* Flood defence
You will be responsible for all phases from feasibility through detailed design, construction support and hand‑over, building strong relationships with clients, contractors and stakeholders.
What You Will Contribute To The Team
* Ownership of and responsibility for successful delivery of projects to time, quality and budget
* Identification and monitoring of project risks and opportunities
* Contribution to project governance reviews
* Design and quality management of deliverables
* Commercial and contractual management
* Stakeholder management, taking account of influences and interests
* Development of the project delivery team
Candidate Specification
This role will suit candidates with experience and interest in:
* Relevant degree, MAPM/ChPP or equivalent, or working toward this qualification
* Strong project management and leadership skills
* Experience delivering complex projects, ideally in the water sector
* Multidisciplinary team experience across project lifecycles
* Client and stakeholder liaison experience
* Excellent communication and reporting skills
* Proactive and adaptable mindset
* Safety, health and environmental prioritisation
* Digital capability and commercial acumen, including contract and change control
Essential
* Project management, delivery and leadership experience
* Delivery of complex projects, preferably in water
* Experience as part of multidisciplinary teams
* Stakeholder interface and liaison
* Strong communication skills (reports, presentations)
* Proactive approach to change
* Health, safety and environmental commitment
* Digital capability
* Commercial acumen and project controls knowledge
Desirable
* NEC accreditation
* Design and build experience
* Knowledge of CDM regulations
