Part of the function of the SUBFLOT Support Group (Devonport) is to provide personnel to support the Complement Reduction phase of the Trafalgar Class submarine disposal programme. On completion of a submarine’s operational life, a period of over 2 years is required to prepare the platform for long-term storage to manage decay heat, secondary and hotel systems until they can be safely decommissioned. As a member of a close-knit team, you will assist in this process, using your skills as a specialist submariner to operate and maintain the unit safely and effectively. This will include the provision of specialist advice to our industry partners, Babcock International and the Submarine Delivery Agency, with whom you will work closely. Submarine disposal presents a unique challenge which is not encountered in an operational platform. PURPOSES Primary Purpose. POET(WESM) Work on Any platform as Directed by SSG(D) CO Trafalgar Class Qualified Watch Keeper Secondary Purposes. Trafalgar class qualified Ship Control Panel watchkeeper, control of submarine hotel systems. Conduct Duties as DFTS Assist with general maintenance and audits. Member of Emergency Support team, acting as the Command technical advisor. ACCOUNTABILITY You will be accountable to the Senior Naval Officer (SNO). TASKS Work on any SUBFLOT Support Group (Devonport) platform as directed by the SSG(D)CO Undertake Duties as required to assist in safe and timely disposal of the platform. Support and undertake removal of equipment as required in accordance with the Disposal STOROB process Process Single Tag Tagout requests iaw agreed procedure. Undertake technical review of project documentation. Conduct maintenance activities as required by UMMS and other maintenance schedules. Carry out technical work as required to support the Secondary and BWS Work packages. Undertake administrative and divisional duties as required by the SNO. ESTABLISHMENT DUTIES (if req) Not required.
