About the role
This is a hands-on, specialist-level position focused on the practical implementation and continuous improvement of EHS standards across Northern UK.
You will work closely with operational teams, providing day-to-day EHS support across field service, sales, and business support functions. The role is centered on driving compliance, improving safety culture, and supporting the business through practical, on-the-ground EHS expertise.
As an EHS Specialist, you will:
1. Provide practical, day-to-day EHS support and guidance across UK&I service operations, projects, and integration activities.
2. Ensure compliance with local legislation, company standards, and contractual requirements.
3. Work closely with operational teams to identify risks and implement effective control measures.
4. Conduct site visits, inspections, and audits, ensuring timely follow-up and closure of actions.
5. Support the rollout of EHS initiatives and contribute to the consistent application of EHS standards across sites.
6. Promote a strong safety culture by engaging directly with employees and encouraging safe behaviours.
7. Participate in and support incident investigations, helping identify root causes and preventative actions.
8. Assist in the development and delivery of EHS training and toolbox talks.
9. Support the management of subcontractor safety, including prequalification and on-site performance monitoring.
10. Contribute to the preparation and review of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
11. Maintain accurate records within internal EHS reporting systems
12. Support EHS communication through clear, practical, and engaging messaging.
13. Assist with EHS certification and compliance processes.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
14. NEBOSH General Certificate
15. Proven experience in a hands-on Health & Safety role across multiple sites (e.g. depots, service locations, or project sites) within construction, field service, engineering or manufacturing environments.
16. Strong working knowledge of UK EHS regulations and standards, particularly within building services, construction, or field-based operations
17. Experience working on-site and directly with operational and depot-based teams, providing practical EHS support
18. A proactive, practical approach with the ability to identify risks across varied environments and implement effective solutions independently
19. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across multiple locations
20. Ability to work effectively within a matrix organisation and support diverse teams across different sites
21. Willingness to travel regularly across Northern UK to visit multiple sites and depot locations
22. Full UK driving licence
