Key responsibilities:
* Safeguard and promote the well‑being of all students in our care
* Monitor and supervise the student residence ensuring proper safety, conduct and well‑being of residents
* Manage students’ behaviour at all relevant times, judging when to sanction or encourage as appropriate
* Locate and find students who are missing from the programme to maintain high safeguarding standards
* Support and care for sick students in camp
* Carefully monitor the host institutions’ property, ensuring it is well looked after and any damage reported and investigated
* Prioritise the safety of students above all else, following our Safeguarding and Health and Safety Policy
* Be friendly and approachable whilst developing professional, positive relationships with students that enhance their overall experience
* Ensure any concerns, worries or questions students may have are dealt with sensitively
* Ensure that any safeguarding concerns that come to your attention are dealt with sensitively, and information shared/escalated appropriately
* Keep accommodation tidy
* Ensure students go to bed and wake up appropriately, accompanying them as necessary
* Assist in arrival check‑in / departure check‑out procedures
* Assist with regular damage inspections
* Assist with running activities and excursions where required
* Assist with additional tasks as given by the camp management team
Essential qualifications:
* Excellent communication skills
* Excellent time management skills
* Being flexible and adaptable to change
* Excellent teamwork skills
* Knowledge of the English language and ability to communicate clearly
* Ability to work under pressure, multitask, prioritise tasks and meet tight deadlines
* Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people
* A positive attitude to use of authority and maintaining discipline
* High level of integrity
* Relate well to children and gain their trust and respect
* Able to empathise with the children
* Have experience working with Juniors in a care position
* Maintain a positive attitude when facing adversity or difficult situations
* Culturally aware and sensitive to the needs of international students
* Calm under pressure, resilient, and able to work independently
Desirable qualifications:
* Experience of working with children and young people
* Safeguarding and Welfare experience with under 18s
* Experience with multiple departments and teams
* Experience in a summer school environment
* Safeguarding Level 1 and 2
* Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours
* Previous experience as a Welfare Officer, House Parent, or similar pastoral role in camps/schools
* First Aid or Mental Health First Aid qualification
* Experience working in a multicultural or international environment
* Counselling, youth work, or social care background
* Ability to speak another language
* Knowledge of reporting procedures and welfare documentation in educational settings
