Overview
Workshop Controller role at TieTalent. Location: North Tawton. This position oversees the daily operations of the busy workshop at the North Tawton depot, supporting maintenance and servicing of Group Fleet vehicles including HGVs, vans, and trailers.
Key Responsibilities
* Workshop Operations & Planning: Manage daily workshop scheduling, including MOT bookings, servicing, and repairs across the Group Fleet; allocate work to technicians and monitor progress to ensure timely and high-quality completion.
* Health & Safety Compliance: Champion a culture of safety by enforcing health and safety policies and procedures; conduct regular checks and audits to ensure a safe working environment.
* Quality Control & Process Management: Monitor and maintain high standards of workmanship; implement and manage quality control processes to meet regulatory and company standards.
* Stock & Resource Management: Manage workshop stock levels, including ordering and maintaining stock; ensure technicians have tools and parts required to perform duties efficiently.
* Fleet Compliance & Documentation: Work with the compliance team to ensure all vehicles meet legal and industry standards; ensure accurate and timely service records, inspection sheets, and compliance documentation.
* Budget Oversight: Collaborate with the Fleet department to manage workshop budgets and control costs; identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising service quality.
* Team Collaboration & Environment: Foster strong relationships across departments to support operational efficiency; continuously seek ways to improve the workshop environment and team morale.
Qualifications & Experience
* Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent).
* Previous supervisory or team leadership experience in a workshop environment.
* Experience managing HGV truck and trailer maintenance operations.
Skills & Attributes
* Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.
* High standards of customer service and communication across all levels.
* Proficiency in workshop management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
* LGV licence is advantageous but not essential.
