Job Summary
Applications are invited from medical oncology doctors on the specialist register (or within 6 months of CCT) who are interested in joining our progressive and supportive team at York Hospital. We are looking for candidates with specialist interest in two of the following tumour sites: Breast, Colorectal, Gynaecology or Urology. The role also includes contributing to the Acute Oncology Service and will have a 1:8 week on call commitment. Consultants in Medical Oncology will have an honorary lecturer contract with the Hull and York Medical School (HYMS) and will have the opportunity to become involved in undergraduate teaching.
Main duties
* Managing and treating patients with Breast and Urological cancers as part of the site specific MDTs
* On call and acute cover for oncology inpatients and new inpatient referrals on a rotational basis (1 week out of 8)
* Attending weekly multi-disciplinary meetings
* Honorary lecturer at Hull York Medical School (HYMS)
* Participate in clinical research as appropriate
* Training and teaching specialty trainees in medical oncology

* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in medical oncology via; CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) or CESR
* Hold a medical qualification registered with the GMC
* Hold a license to practise with the General Medical Council
Desirable qualifications
* Post graduate degree (MD or PhD)
* Substantive NHS experience
Experience
* Clinical experience & skill in speciality
* Experience of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate trainees
