Job Description
The Head Teacher (Inclusion, Wellbeing and Adapted Curriculum) is a new role resulting from an ongoing review of Additional Support Needs. The successful postholder will act as the lead in improving educational outcomes for children and young people who are Care Experienced, deaf and visually impaired, have English as an Additional language, or require an adapted educational programme for all or part of their educational provision.
They will also lead inclusive practices by overseeing professional development related to supporting learners, aligned with the Moray staged intervention model. Additionally, they will take a lead on wellbeing and partnership working to support children and young people.
The Head Teacher will collaborate with colleagues in schools, central officers, and a wide range of partner agencies to bring about improvements in education for the identified children and young people. Although the school does not exist in physical terms, there are several buildings and settings in Moray to support various needs. The role is based at Headquarters in Elgin, with travel required to satellite buildings and schools.
Working with Head Teachers, senior, and middle leaders across Moray schools, the Head Teacher will contribute to the 'raising attainment and achievement for all' agenda, ensuring inclusion and equality for children with the specified needs. They will also monitor progress for children and young people accessing an adapted curriculum.
The role involves leading and co-leading projects across Moray to foster change and support the four pillars of inclusion, aiming to meet learners' needs effectively. The post holder will focus on improving positive outcomes for children and young people accessing support services or an adapted curriculum. The role includes travel across Moray's 53 schools and collaboration with central establishments such as Headquarters, East End Annexe, Pinefield, and Flexible Learning Resources. Appropriate ICT equipment will be provided.
