Salary £28,000 increasing to £29,500 in Year 2

We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Hydrogen Graduate Engineer to join our team and support the successful delivery of Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) stage of the East Coast Hydrogen (ECH) project. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the UK’s transition to a low-carbon energy infrastructure, working on one of the most significant hydrogen projects in the country.
As a Graduate Engineer, you will gain hands-on experience in multidisciplinary engineering activities, technical assessments, and project coordination. Supported by a mentor, you will develop your skills while contributing to a project that will help shape the future of energy.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Technical Support - Assist in reviewing pipeline design concepts and integrating hydrogen-specific engineering considerations
Project Coordination - Track project milestones and support cross-discipline coordination and document control
Data Analysis & Research - Analyse technical and environmental data to inform design decisions and benchmark hydrogen technologies
Stakeholder Engagement - Attend meetings and contribute to stakeholder communications through presentations and materials
Learning & Development - Gain cross-functional experience across NGN and engage with mentors to build technical and project skills
Business Support - Contribute to general administrative tasks and assist with coordination across the wider ECH team
What we are looking for
Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly
Analytical mindset with good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Basic understanding of gas or hydrogen infrastructure, pipeline systems, or energy networks
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documents
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with familiarity in engineering tools (e.g. AutoCAD, GIS, or similar)
Adaptability and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced project environment
Awareness of health, safety, and environmental considerations in engineering projects
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Electrical, or Energy Engineering (or a related discipline)
Interest in hydrogen, decarbonisation, and infrastructure projects
Desirable: Working towards (or interest in) Chartered Engineer Status. A full UK driving licence.

Salary from £28,000 per annum, increasing to £29,500 in Year 2

25 days annual leave (plus recognised bank holidays and 2 half days over the Christmas period)
