Our Client
Our client is a well-established B2B group based in Wiltshire. They are looking to recruit a Finance Director Designate who will take over from the existing Finance Director by the end of 2025.
Finance Director Designate - The Role
As Finance Director Designate, you will play a key role in the business, driving process and reporting improvement, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing sound financial advice to the Board. You will need to be detail-oriented and a confident communicator when presenting financial data.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Contributing to strategic leadership within the organization;
2. Overseeing the finances, including monthly results, VAT, tax, payroll, treasury, foreign exchange, cash management, and insurances;
3. Providing sound financial and commercial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management;
4. Preparing accurate and timely financial reports and improving reporting systems and processes;
5. Conducting financial planning and analysis to support strategic and operational decisions;
6. Modeling and forecasting strategic plans and communicating outcomes to Directors, including risk analysis;
7. Preparing and presenting financial reports to stakeholders;
8. Building strong relationships with stakeholders such as investors, external accountants, and HMRC;
9. Leading and mentoring the finance team, including staff development and training;
10. Overseeing tax planning and compliance;
11. Ensuring statutory financial and company secretarial compliance;
12. Managing HR functions, including employment contracts, pension schemes, payroll, and benefits;
13. Performing other administrative duties as required.
The Successful Applicant
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with SME experience. They should demonstrate:
1. Strong commercial and analytical skills with the ability to propose business development ideas;
2. A diligent, proactive, and hands-on problem-solving attitude, comfortable with both detailed accounts and strategic planning;
3. Experience with imported goods and foreign currency (desirable);
4. Experience developing systems to enhance reporting;
5. Exceptional analytical, presentation, and Excel skills;
6. Excellent communication skills and relationship-building abilities with internal and external stakeholders;
7. Strong commercial acumen;
8. A pragmatic, self-motivated mindset.
